Healthy Child Pathway Information Sheet

Winter is often the time when people get tummy bugs and flu. They spread easily but it is really easy to stop them. Go to www.nhs.uk to find out how.

  • Wash your hands after using the toilet and before handling food. You just need hot, soapy water.
  • Germs live on doorknobs and household surfaces. Keep them clean.

If a child has a tummy bug or the flu we ask parents not to return their children to school until 48 hours after they were last sick or had diarrhoea. We understand entirely how difficult this can be for families, but a child who is still infectious might well have caught the illness from someone who was sent back to school too soon.
