Food at Old Buckenham High School

At Old Buckenham High School, we know that eating a healthy, balanced lunch is essential for helping students stay focused, energised, and ready to learn throughout the day.

Students can either bring a packed lunch from home or purchase food from our school canteen, which offers a range of nutritious and tasty options at both break and lunchtime.

 

Breaktime – 10:50am

At break, students can purchase a selection of hot and cold snacks from the canteen. Please note that the Free School Meal allowance does not cover breaktime snacks, but students are welcome to buy food if their account is in credit.

 

Lunchtime – 12:50pm to 1:35pm

Our canteen provides a wide range of hot meals, cold options, snacks, and drinks. Meals can be served on a plate for eating in the canteen, or in disposable containers for a convenient grab-and-go option.

Packed Lunches – Our Expectations

If your child brings a packed lunch, we ask families to help us support healthy eating in school by following these simple guidelines:

 

  • No nuts or nut products – We are a nut-free school due to severe allergies. Please check all snacks and lunch items carefully.
  • Avoid sugary drinks and confectionery – We recommend water or flavoured waters instead of high-sugar alternatives.
  • Include fruit and vegetables – Options like apples, cucumbers, and peppers are always a great choice!

 

Paying for School Meals

Our school operates a cashless canteen. All food must be paid for using a lunch card, which is topped up via SchoolComms.

 

What do you need to do?

 

  1. Download the SchoolComms app to manage payments quickly and easily from your mobile device.
  2. Top up your child’s account to ensure they can purchase food at break and lunch.
