Pupil Premium

At Old Buckenham High School, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential, regardless of their background. One of the ways we support this is through Pupil Premium funding—a government initiative designed to provide additional resources for schools to help close the achievement gap between disadvantaged students and their peers.

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. The aim is to support students who may face additional challenges that could impact their learning and progress.

Who is Eligible?

Your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium if they fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • They are currently eligible for free school meals (FSM), or have been at any point in the last six years (known as 'Ever 6').
  • They are looked after by the local authority or have previously been in care.
  • They have been adopted from care or have left care under a special guardianship order, residence order, or child arrangements order.
  • They have a parent serving in the armed forces, or have had a parent in the armed forces at any time in the past six years.

How to Apply

To find out if your child qualifies for free school meals (which in turn makes them eligible for Pupil Premium), please visit Norfolk County Council’s website at the following link Free school meals - Norfolk County Council

The application process is straightforward, and all information shared is treated in strict confidence.

If your child is eligible, it’s important to apply—even if they choose not to take up the free meals—because the school receives additional funding to support their education.

If you have any questions or would like support with the application, please don’t hesitate to contact our office team.
