Geography
At Old Buckenham High School, Geography is more than just the study of places—it’s about understanding the world we live in and how human and physical processes shape our environment. Our Geography curriculum aims to ignite curiosity, develop critical thinking skills, and inspire students to become responsible, informed global citizens.
Guided by our values of Community, Ambition and Respect, Geography at OBHS encourages students to explore the planet’s diverse landscapes, climates, and cultures. Through both fieldwork and classroom learning, students study topics such as natural hazards, global warming, population growth, and sustainable development. By examining real-world issues, they learn how geography plays a key role in solving global challenges.
Our beautiful rural setting in Norfolk provides a unique opportunity to connect classroom learning with the world outside. Students engage in local field trips, exploring how human activity interacts with the natural environment, while also studying broader global topics such as trade, migration, and environmental change.
Through Geography, we help students develop the skills to ask thoughtful questions, analyse data, and think critically about how people and places are interconnected. We believe Geography provides essential tools for understanding current events and the challenges of the future, from climate change to urbanisation.
Beyond the classroom, Geography is brought to life with exciting extracurricular activities. These hands-on experiences inspire students to engage with their surroundings, think critically about the world, and develop the confidence to address issues that matter.
