Miss Tamar Irvine (Chairperson) Term of office: 3 October 2016 to 2 October 2020 – I have experience of working as a governor in a primary school in North London for 9 years and on a temporary body to create a new Secondary school in Haringey and its subsequent governing body until I moved to Norfolk. I was parent Governor at Garboldisham for four years and now am very excited to be able to offer support to Old Buckenham High School as a governor. I am particularly passionate about inclusion and personalised learning and how schools can thrive as communities.
Mrs Emma Beard (Member) Term of office: 1 September 2015 to 31 August 2019 – I joined the governing body as a Co-opted governor in September 2015 and am a member of the Business Committee. My career has largely been in HR and I have worked with company boards to improve effectiveness and raise governance standards. I am experienced in budget management and fund raising for non-for-profit organisations. As a keen sports person I will work to ensure that the school continues to offer a wide range of extra curricular activities.
OBHS is a community school focused on values which my family and I share. My aim is to support OBHS to deliver outstanding opportunities for academic and personal achievement; as well as supporting the aspirations and well-being of all pupils.
Mrs Emily Severn (Member) Term of office: 1 September 2015 to 31 August 2019
Mr Alun Lane (Member) Term of office: 11 December 2017 to 10 December 2021
Mr Jack Eves (Vice-Chairperson) Term of office: 12 June 2015 to 13 June 2019 – I am a retired single parent, having previously worked in the road haulage industry. I live in Thetford with my son who is in Year 9 at OBHS. I am also a Governor at the Diamond Academy in Thetford and Vice-Chair of the Thetford Cluster of schools. I have lived in Norfolk for 19 years and find being a School Governor very rewarding.
Mr Iain Trench (Member) Term of office: 21 March 2016 to 20 March 2020 – I have been a governor at the school since I retired earlier this year. During my teaching career I taught in four different secondary schools – in my last post I was curriculum deputy headteacher at a large comprehensive school in Ipswich. I currently have a daughter at OBHS. The school has so much to offer and I want to support staff and leadership in giving the best opportunities to young people.
