Physical Education

PE at Old Buckenham High School offers a diverse curriculum to inspire students to develop a passion for physical activity. Core PE lessons aim to establish a love of sport and exercise at a young age, encouraging lifelong participation, and developing habits that prepare our young people to lead a healthy active lifestyle.

Following the national curriculum throughout KS3, pupils develop skills formed at primary school. As confidence and competency grows, students learn to apply techniques across different sports and physical activities. Students access a variety of activities including Football, Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Basketball, Trampolining, Dance, Problem solving skills, Fitness, Cross country, Badminton, Invasion games, Athletics, Tennis, Cricket and Rounders. We understand that students are at different stages and have had differing experiences of PE, therefore lessons are tailored to cater for pupil's individual ability and learning needs to ensure every pupil is engaged, challenged and supported to be the very best they can be.

At Key Stage 4, pupils have the option to study EdExcel GCSE PE or OCR Cambridge Nationals Sport Studies. More information regarding these courses can be found under the Options page subject information.

To enhance our curriculum, the PE department offers a range of sports and activities through extra-curricular clubs. Training and fixtures available to all pupils include Football, Rugby, Netball, Basketball, Athletics, Dodgeball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis, Cricket and Rounders. Furthermore, to extend pupils curiosity for the subject and to enhance their experience of the wider world the PE department offers a range of educational visits during the year and additional courses, including a Sports Leadership course.
