As a result of discussions and consultation with parents, student groups, staff and governors we have reviewed our Student Leadership structure. With this review we have looked to clarify several elements of student leadership in the school.
Whilst most of these are simply refinement and clarification of the structure and process, a new development is that there will be a ‘cap’ on how many Prefects and Senior Prefects will be appointed. There was a high level of support for this, largely based on the view that this is a true reflection of life for students; further education places as well as jobs are not limitless.
The school has rightly always been proud of its student leaders and they have represented the school magnificently. It is pleasing to see how many of our students aspire to take on these roles.
Head Boy and Head Girl
Congratulations to this year’s Head Girl, Katie Hamshaw, and Head Boy, Seb Cawley. They will be assisted by deputies; Jess Hale, Ciara Dysart and Charlie Jenkins.
We were delighted to be able to make up so many students this year as Prefects. See the noticeboard for details.
The school council at Old Buckenham High School gives all students a voice in the running of the school and in planning activities both in and out of school. Students are voted in by the other students in their year group.
The next elections will be held in the Spring Term of 2017.
